Start with the design work
A print-ready, licensed STL may need scale and printability checks. A pet photograph or a new award concept needs modeling before a printable file exists. Those are different scopes of work, even if the final pieces are a similar size.
For example, a simple nameplate from approved artwork may need lettering and a base. A character-inspired display may also require modeling, refinements and proof revisions. Any design or setup fee should be clear in the quote.
Material is only one part of the total
Size, wall thickness, infill, supports and color changes affect material usage. Print time also matters because one machine cannot make another order while a long job runs. Supports can add both material and cleanup time.
A taller or more intricate object is not automatically a better value. Ask whether simplifying the shape or using fewer colors would make the brief easier to produce without losing its purpose.
Colors, finishing and batch quantity
The AMS can use up to four filament colors where practical. Color changes may add machine time and material waste; they are not the same as applying paint after printing. Sanding, painting and extra finishing are included only if the written quote says so.
Shared design work can spread across a batch, but every piece still needs printing and inspection. Ten small awards and ten large awards are different production commitments. We assess quantity against one printer’s available capacity.
Use starting prices as planning context
Our current figurine and desk-display starting figures are provisional exploratory pricing. They are not a guaranteed price for your specific design. Awards are quoted individually, and design/setup fees may apply.
A useful written quote should identify the approved design scope, quantity, material, colors, finishing and pickup or shipping arrangements. The agreed quote total—not a gallery concept or starting figure—is the basis for payment.
Send the details that reduce guesswork
Include the intended use, approximate dimensions, quantity, colors, reference or licensed file, budget range and needed-by date. If size is flexible, say so. We can then assess alternatives before you commit.
- Example brief: one decorative desk nameplate, about 6 inches wide, two preferred colors, approved logo supplied
- Example brief: a small set of event awards with a common base and recipient names, date and quantity specified
- Neither example is a price or turnaround promise; both require review
